Introduction: Tucked away in residential Shadyside, Pasha is a secret gem. The main seating area has the classic cozy ambiance of a cafe while still maintaining an upscale touch. They're the perfect place to dine all year round, with an outdoor seating section that can be closed off in the colder months. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for an EAT@Pitt brunch and left satisfied and planning our next trip back! The Food & Member Reviews:
Jackie: As a group, we decided to order the large mixed cold appetizer. The chef selected 8 wonderful options, including hummus, stuffed grape leaves, and tzatziki. It was served with pita bread fresh out of the oven. I ordered Turkish coffee as my drink. It was served in a beautiful matching cup and saucer set. If it wasn't piping hot, I could've drank the entire thing at once! The coffee is incredibly concentrated. When you first sip, you get hit with rich coffee flavor and a creamy sweetness. It finishes with a bitter coffee taste. For my main, I got the sujuk omelette. It included Turkish sujuk, which is a beef pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and avocado sauce. It was also served with breakfast potatoes, toast, and an olive tapenade. I love brunch, and this meal made me love it even more. The potatoes were fried to crispy perfection. The omelette was cooked perfectly and the ingredients were evenly distributed throughout. My meal was great, but I was drooling over the presentation of the other members meals! This is the perfect place to bring family or friends for brunch. Sapna: I loved the variety in the large mixed appetizer that we ordered as a group. I personally tried the hummus, the grape leaves, and the potato based dish and all 3 were amazing. The fresh pita made the whole experience better, as it was the perfect combination within the appetizers. For my entree i ordered a classic crepe. As we went around brunch time, I decided to order something off the breakfast / brunch menu as opposed to the traditional lunch menu, and I'm glad I did. I hadn't had crepes in such a long time, but these ones were delectable. Topped with a side of fresh fruit and whipped cream, it was a light and refreshing breakfast. To pair with this, I had my first Turkish coffee. I consider myself a coffee fanatic, and I absolutely loved the portion and flavor of Turkish coffee. It encouraged my to sip slower and really take in all of the nuances of the coffee, and for it being so strong and concentrated, I was surprised at how drinkable it was - there was little to no bitterness. I can't wait to come back to Pasha for lunch or dinner and try their more traditional Turkish food! Sophia: This restaurant had quite a range of options and I was delighted to try so many savory appetizers with the group as well as the sweet classic crepe with a side of Turkish sujuk (beef pepperoni). Every appetizer was delicious and the pita bread was the best I've had in a long time, I couldn't stop eating it. I very much enjoyed the crepe and the sujuk was amazing. Instead of the classic pepperoni flavor I had been expecting, it had a unique mix of spices and I would have eaten so much more of it if given the chance. With an exciting and diverse menu that caters to any mood or level of pickiness, I will definitely be returning to this adorable café! |
